Here is what we spend per person for 9 days in Oman:
Transportation: $188 / $21 per day
This includes taxa and rental car for 2 days.
This is WITHOUT our flight tickets from Tanzania to Oman – For those we paid: $353 per person.
Accommodation: $683 / $76 per day
We stayed at a 4 star hotel called Crowne Plaza Muscat all 9 days. We loved it there and can definitely recommend it if you want a luxurious place to stay.
Food: $335 / $37 per day
Breakfast was included in the hotel stay. We ate most of our meals at the hotel. This is definitely not the cheapest way to do it. But due to Ramadan all public restaurants were closed during the day (you’re not allowed to eat and drink in public).
We paid less than $2 for a kebab at a café at night. To compare it – the buffet at our hotel costs $54,6 per person (the most expensive meals we had).
Bonus: We are members of IHG Hotels & Resorts, which means we get a 20 % discount on food and drinks at the hotel.
Experiences: $125 / $14 per day
Experiences we did includes: Daymaniat Islands boat and snorkeling trip, Wadi Shab, Nizwa Fort and Castle, hiking, Jabreen Castle and Bimmah Sinkhole.
You can find the specific prices for each activity in this post – 5 best places to visit in Oman.
Other: $9 / $1 per day
This includes shopping (bought 2 dresses) and eSIM cards.
Total: $1340 / $149 per day
As always it can be done more expensive or much cheaper. We try to find the balance that fits us.
We traveled Oman more luxurious than we have in many other countries. After spending 2 weeks in a hostel in Zanzibar it was time for something different. In Oman we spend extra on food and accommodation and it was worth it – Especially because of Ramadan it was nice to stay at a place that allows you to drink and eat during the day.
Oman is one of my new favorite countries and I think it’s really underrated! It was definitely worth the money.
