When you visit Thailand you can’t miss spending time on one on the many amazing islands. We chose the relaxed vibe of Koh Phangan.
You can divide the island in two parts: “The party side” and “The hippie side”.
We stayed on “The hippie side” – So this guide will focus on that! Everything you should know about the other side is the famous full moon party 😉
To make it easier for you to plan your visit I have collected good things to know when you visit the tropical paradise Koh Phangan. In this general guide to visit the island you will find inspiration why to visit Koh Phangan, where to stay, how to get there and more information about Koh Phangan.

Koh Phangan travel guide

Why Koh Phangan:
It’s the perfect place to feel the vibe of the island life in Thailand. I really LOVE the island life and Koh Phangan in Thailand definitely didn’t disappoint on that part!
Beautiful sunset on the beach, drinks, palms, ocean view, coconuts, sticky rice, relaxing time in the pool, eating delicious food and enjoying the sun in the best company – What more can you ask for?
How to get to Koh Phangan:
The transportation system in Thailand is super easy to use and tourist friendly. We booked a bus (from Hua Hin) and a boat through the company Lomprayah.
Food on Koh Phangan:
This side of the island has the most delicious food!! Besides Thai dishes they have so many “insta worthy” cafes with smoothie bowls, fancy salads and delicious desserts. Most of them offer a cozy atmosphere with plants everywhere.
It’s easy to find varied food as a vegetarian (for the first time ever we did 2 weeks of only eating vegetarian food and it was super tasty!).

Things to do on Koh Phanang:
You’re on an island so of course enjoying the beach is the perfect activity!
With the relaxed atmosphere a yoga class is a must do as well – Join the hippie vibe and reconnect to your body.
You can also find temples, waterfalls, “outdoor” gyms, massages or join one of the parties.
We also did a fun ATV trip in the jungle – Find the off-road adventure here. For me it was a mix of getting out of my comfort zone and overlooking beautiful panoramic viewpoints.
If you’re looking for a day tour, you have to visit the beautiful Angthong National Marine Park. You can read more about this impressive national park here: Angthong National Marine Park tour.

Money:
Cash is king! Not all the cafes accept payment by card.
However there is plenty of ATM’s in the popular areas.
100 Thai bath are $2,8.
Koh Phangan weather:
The weather is divided into 3 seasons: Dry, hot and rainy season.
– Dry season: December to March
– Hot season: April to August
– Rainy season: September to November
Hotel inspiration Koh Phangan:
We stayed 2 weeks on the island and all the time at the same hotel: Loyfa Natural Resort. Here we had a lovely time staying in a room with a pool and ocean view in front of our balcony.

We paid $900 for 2 weeks at the end of April and beginning of May. You can find a total cost breakdown of our stay in Koh Phangan here: Koh Phangan travel costs.
Is Koh Phangan worth visiting:
YES!! I’m already considering coming back one day.
How a typical day looked like as a digital nomad on the island Koh Phangan in Thailand:
This is how our day mostly looked like:
– Waking up to a beautiful ocean view
– Brunch
– Work
– Entertain my insta husband in the pool
– Dinner
– More work and then relaxing

We had such a great time during our 2 weeks in Koh Phangan! The wifi worked well and the food was some of the best we had while traveling this year. It’s the perfect combination of gorgeous beaches and relaxed down to earth vibe. I highly recommend you to visit this island with a relaxed and tropical vibe.
