Zanzibar snorkeling tour: Snorkeling around Mnemba Island and visiting a postcard worthy sand bank
Imagine taking a break after an adventurous safari in Tanzania on the Tanzanian island Zanzibar. You’re looking for a water activity to do in the beautiful turquoise water.
Then you’re at the right place. Mnemba island snorkeling tour is a bucket list worthy experiences when you visit Zanzibar.
Here is what you should know about a Mnemba snorkeling and sandbank tour:
Location:
Around Mnemba Island in the north of Zanzibar, Tanzania.
Information about the tour:
This boat trip includes snorkeling with colorful fish in the clear water close to Mnemba Island (fun fact: the island is owned by Bill Gates), after that you visit a sandbank.
If you’re lucky you will see or even swim with dolphins on your trip (try to avoid boats that chase them too much).
Starting point:
Our tour started at Nungwi beach, Zanzibar.
Starting time:
The tour starts in the morning.
Price:
The price depends on the place you book it and your negotiating skills. We paid $30 per person with transportation from our hostel to the starting point + some tips for the boat crew.
I have heard prices can be as low as $20.
Duration:
Our trip took approximately 4 hours.
To bring on the tour:
Underwater camera/waterproof case for your phone, sunscreen + t-shirt to cover your back (the sun is strong (UV12), I got a sunburn on my back while snorkeling) and if you have your own snorkel equipment bring it.
Booking:
We booked our trip through our hostel.
