Last updated: 20.02.24
Welcome to Algarve in Portugal. A lovely place with a sunny coast line and a true paradise for surfers and digital nomads.
We spent 1 wonderful week in a co-working and co-living villa located at the relaxed coastal town Sagres in Algarve.
In this travel blog post I share cost transparency to make it easier for you to create a travel budget for your trip to Algarve. Here you get the breakdown of cost of living in Algarve as a digital nomad. I have divided our Algarve travel costs into transportation, accommodation, food and experiences.
Disclosure: My villa stay was done in a collaboration with Off The Hook. This article was not part of our deal and everything expressed in this article is based on my personal experiences and opinions.

Here is what we spend per person for 1 week in Sagres, Algarve, Portugal:
Costs of transportation: 110 € – 16 € per day
We only paid for transportation from the airport to the villa we stayed in and return back to the airport after our stay.
The beach and restaurants were all in walking distance from our accommodation.
This is WITHOUT our flight tickets. From Denmark to Portugal and return we paid 272 € per person.
Costs of accommodation: 0 € – 0 € per day
This number may seem a bit strange. We didn’t pay for the villa we stayed in, because it was a collaboration.
The prices of staying in the villa starts at 210 € per person for one week – Very affordable! The Villa is called Off The Hook.
Costs of food: 212 € – 30 € per day
This includes a mix of home cooked meals in our apartment and restaurant visits. We had a lot of delicious food this week.
Besides buying food out we also cooked food in our kitchen. There is good shopping opportunities close by. We also went to a market close by the villa and bought fresh tuna, fruit and vegetables.
If you ask us you can’t visit Portugal without eating a Pastel de Nata – Our favorite Portuguese pastry.
Costs of experiences: 96 € – 14 € per day
This includes yoga, a surf lesson and an entrance to a fortress. The surf lesson was the most expensive. We paid 80 € per person for that.
Total cost of living in Algarve: 418 € – 60 € per day
We really enjoyed the sun and relaxed vibe in this surfer paradise. It was a lovely vibe and a great environment for remote working.
My favorite part is when you were off work there is so much to do. You can do yoga on the rooftop, relax on the beach (only 5-10 minutes walking away), take a surf lesson, go to the local market, enjoy a beautiful sunset and connect with other lovely remote workers.
One week went so fast by and I would have loved to stay for much longer!
