Kyrgyzstan is definitely a hidden gem and a country I highly recommend for any nature and adventure lover to visit! Kyrgyzstan is located in Central Asia and offers breathtaking landscapes with beautiful mountains, alongside a blend of ancient traditions and cultural heritage.
I stayed for 2 weeks in Kyrgyzstan, and it positively surprised me with its beauty and unique outdoor adventures. If you consider a visit, do it!
In this blog post, I will dive into the details of my travel expenses in Kyrgyzstan. However this post isn’t like my other travel costs breakdowns where I divided every penny spent into these categories: Accommodation, transportation, food, experiences, other and total costs in the country.
Why am I still sharing it? Because I want to be transparent about all our travel budgets and I hope this provides you with an idea of the cost of living in Kyrgyzstan as a traveler, helping you plan your own trip and Kyrgyzstan budget.

Kyrgyzstan travel costs: Tracking expenses in Kyrgyzstan for 2 weeks
Here is what we spent per person for 2 weeks (12 days) in Kyrgyzstan:
Price of a 10 day tour in Kyrgyzstan
This cost transparency post is a bit different compared to my other destinations, but I still think it can give you an idea of the price level in this country.
The reason for this is that we traveled with a friend and paid a total price for an arranged 10 day trip, which included food, transportation, accommodations and experiences.
Price of the 10 day tour: $650 per person
We paid $650 per person. We were 4 people sharing cars and yurts (tents) making it cheaper than if Nicko and I had gone alone.
This price was a “friend price” – Our friend worked at a hostel before our trip and the owner arranged the trip for a good price – I share this to give you an idea, but do expect to pay more. The price included all accommodations, transport, almost all meals and covered experiences like horse riding and eagle show. You can find our itinerary in a post soon.
Breakdown of other costs in Kyrgyzstan
Besides the $650 we paid (these numbers are approximate because we shared the costs with our friend, making it more difficult to keep track of the money):
Cost of transportation in Kyrgyzstan
The cost of transportation in Kyrgyzstan was $2 per person.
This covers transportation in Bishkek.
This is WITHOUT our flight tickets to Kyrgyzstan from Uzbekistan – For those we paid: $187 per person.
Cost of accommodation in Kyrgyzstan
The cost of accommodation in Kyrgyzstan was $27.
This covers tips at campsites and our accommodation in Bishkek (2 nights). In Bishkek we stayed at the same hostel before and after the trip. It’s called Apple and you can check out their prices here.
Cost of food in Kyrgyzstan
The cost of our food in Kyrgyzstan was $47.
This covers food before and after the trip, a few meals during the trip plus snacks and extra beverages.
Cost of experiences in Kyrgyzstan
The cost of experiences was $22.
This includes entrance fees to an international football match, rental of hiking poles and entrance to Fairy Tale Canyon.
Other costs in Kyrgyzstan
Other costs were $24.
This includes eSIM and paid toilets.
We normally use an eSIM when we are traveling because it’s very convenient. You don’t have to hunt for a physical shop to buy a local SIM card and at the same time you ensure you don’t lose your regular SIM card. It’s probably not the cheapest way to stay connected, but it is easy to use. We always use Airalo. In Kyrgyzstan you can get one of the following packages:
- 1 GB for 7 days: $8
- 3 GB for 30 days: $21
- 5 GB for 30 days: $24

Be aware that in some parts of Kyrgyzstan there weren’t any internet connection.

Total extras were $122 per person.
Total costs in Kyrgyzstan
The total for the entire 12 days of travel in Kyrgyzstan was $772 per person, which averages to $64 per person per day.
Kyrgyzstan is definitely worth it and one of my favorite adventures from 2023!
