Have you booked your trip to Bangkok or maybe a layover in Bangkok and don’t know what to see? Maybe you’re already on your way and still haven’t researched the destination. I got you! Here in this quick guide I will share some inspiration of what to explore when you visit Bangkok and it only takes a few minutes to read!

4 Places to visit in Bangkok

So let’s skip all the talking and dig into what you want to know – inspiration to places to explore when you visit Bangkok in Thailand:

Two cultural places in Bangkok

The Grand Palace:

A complex of multiple buildings – The palace has been official residence of the king of Thailand (before Siam) since 1782.

Wat Pho:

One of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok with a huge golden Buddha.

Two unique markets around Bangkok

Both markets are unique and located just outside Bangkok. You can rent a driver and do a day tour from Bangkok to visit both markets on the same day.

Maeklong Railway Market:

Maeklong Railway Market is an old market located along train tracks. The train drives by a couple of times a day, where all the sellers move their stuff quickly away from the track.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market:

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is a floating market where you go around in boats. You can buy from the small stands on the shores or from other boats.

A short note: There are two sides of Bangkok: The one you show your mother and the other you show your friends 😉

When we visited Bangkok we were visiting temples during the day and at night we were partying (celebrating Songkran*).

You have to decide what you will prioritize your time on: The cultural side, the party side or both.

*Songkran: The biggest water fight in the world! Songkran is Thai New Year and it’s celebrated with a water festival on the streets. If you visit Bangkok in April, you have to look up if you’re going at the same time as the celebration! If you do, I recommend you to join the fun activity.

From Songkran 2023

Enjoy your stay in Bangkok!
